Forward… Into the Unknown
I know, sounds kinda corny and all, kinda like Buzz Lightyear yelling… To Infinity and Beyond! Afterall tho, I’m not your normal guy, for the love of all that is holy, I’ll throw on unicorn pjs I got as a gag for my birthday just for laughs. I’ll make nearly naked (almost always) snow angels for fun. How do I really know what is ahead? So, forward I go with this little blog.
Recently, I shared a picture of the northern lights I took while camping with a couple friends. It made two people react in what for me, were profound ways.
First, an amazing woman to whom I’ve been talking. Amazing because of the things she’s overcome in her life and still fights with. I doubt this is the last time I’ll speak of this amazing friend. Yep, online gaming friend, funny the people we meet. Anyways, I sent her the picture and she loved it. Later in the day she told me she couldn’t stop looking at it. I guess I can understand how she felt.
That got us started about a trip to Iceland, her and I meeting there. Hopefully, while we’re there, we can see the northern lights. For while I’d really like to meet her and see Iceland, I think seeing her reaction to the northern lights would be the best of highlights for me.
A friend’s son saw this picture inspiring him to start pursuing photography. That was a heart punch to me, that something I did, inspired someone to chase a new passion. Maybe eventually pursue a career in it. I’m no master photographer, so it really means a lot that he felt that way. I still had an old DSLR and a couple lenses, so I passed that on to him to help get him started. To see if he really enjoys it. I’ll help him as much as I can to learn more about taking good pictures.
I will be making two prints of that picture. One for each of them for having profoundly affected me. Those will be the only two I print in that edit. Likely I’ll share the pic here, but they will have the only prints signed by me. Maybe that will be as special to them as it is to me.
What effect do we have on those around us. Are they happy to see us, or not? Are their lives enrichened or diminished by having us in them? When was the last time you took a minute to wonder? Maybe we would all be better off if we did.
That’s all for today folks May your days and nights be beautiful until next we meet.
