Awakening

Awakening

Stars start to rest
Dawns first lights possess
Oranges, Pinks and Reds
Make the clouds delight

A drake and mate
Glide thru ethereal mist
Landing on placid molten glass
Reflecting the dawning day
Reminding me of a memory

Songbirds sing
As autumn calls
Against summer’s final fling

Rising wisps of vapor
Tapering amidst the reeds and trees

As the sky grows bright
Pink and blue do fight
To seize control in clouds and higher heavens

Frogs talk on
As faraway
Loons sing out
Calling to their mates

Barely a ripple left
The lovers paddle on
As this new day dawns
